Trailer - 'The Wolfman'

Well... more like the bootleg version of it. The trailer hasn't been officially unleashed for mass consumption, but some sneaky devil with a recording device captured it all for the rest of us to admire, at last weekends Comic-Con Convention in San Diego, CA, which was honored with a Wolfman panel that included the film's main cast, Benicio del Toro and Emily Blunt, along with visual effects master, Rick Baker. And during their conversation with the audience, a surprise trailer of the film was shown, which you can see below.

Despite the 3rd grade quality of the video (it's a recording after all), I must say, I like what I see there. I love the look and feel of it all - dark, gothic, rich, complex. And with such a talented cast, including Anthony Hopkins and Hugo Weaving, it should be a good show when it bows in theatres next spring!

See my original post about the film, including synopsis, HERE.

A friend of mine at Comic Con told me this this was definitely going to be R rated but I wasn't sure the director was Joe (Honey I Shunk the Kids, Jumanji) Johnston. But after seeing this trailer it's definitely gong to be an R film like any good horror film should be. THANK GOD!

Joe Johnston's name did worry me when I first found out that he was directing it. His resume is quite thin and unimpressive. But if this trailer is indicative of what we can expect in the full-length film, he might win a lot of fans over.

One thing I heard that worried me was that CG effects were used to create Del Toro's wolfman, which angered Rick Baker, the special effects guy on the film. Apparently, he wanted to be given the opportunity to create the wolfman physically, instead of relying on CG work. I can't argue with him on that.

And yes, this should definitely be getting an R rating. If it ends up being cut up to appease the MPAA for a PG or PG-13 rating, I'll probably skip it.
