Obama Sells Out!

So... despite all noise it created, the controversial July 21 cover of The New Yorker portraying President Barack Obama as a Muslim, and his wife as a black nationalist revolutionary, has sold more copies at newsstands than the magazine's average sales rate.

According to the New York Post, "the demand has completely overwhelmed Condé Nast's ability to fill requests for additional copies;" Condé Nast of course is the publisher of New Yorker magazine.

Estimates show that sales of that specific issue were almost double the average, or around 75,000 copies, compared with average newsstand sales of around 43,000!

So can we say mission accomplised for Condé Nast? Of course, the publisher denies that this was all an attempt to sell more magazines. Even so... I seriously doubt that they are walking around with sunken heads. Expect more controversial covers in the future...
