GOOD MORNING - Mel Gibson Surfaces...

For those who were wondering what Aussie-American renaissance man Mel Gibson's been up to since 2006's Apocalypto, his second directorial effort, wonder no more... Jimmy Kimmel tracked him down and gave us the answers we seek.

I've gotta give Mel some coolness points for doing this. In recent years, since the drama over his take on the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ, in 2004's The Passion of The Christ, the man seemed to have rapidly grown quite austere, ramping up his intensity and reclusivity.

He hasn't been in front of the camera in anything prominent in awhile, and I'm sure his eventual return will be accompanied by much curiosity from critics, fans and non-fans alike.

His IMDB resume states that he's starring in a film called Edge of Darkness, scheduled for release later this year. The film is based on a 1980s British TV series of the same name, about a detective (Gibson) investigating the murder of his activist daughter, uncovering political conspiracies and cover-ups in the process.

By the way, "Chris Partlow" aka Gbenga Akinnagbe, co-stars as a fellow detective on Gibson's character's squad.
