Detective Gabrielle Union

Gabrielle Union

Interestingly, I've always felt that she was better suited for television than the theatrical screen. Why? I'm not quite sure... I'll have to think about it. She just seems to have more of a "I work in television" air about herself, than a "I'm a movie star" presence.

But working with a former X-Files writer/producer could produce worthwhile results. We'll see...

The story goes...
Gabrielle Union and X-Files writer/producer Frank Spotnitz are reteaming to develop a new series for NBC.

The duo, who worked together on ABC's short-lived Night Stalker uring the 2005-2006 TV season, is developing a procedural for the Peacock, according to Variety.

Spontitz will write the show, and Union
will star as a detective who must race to save someone's life before it's too late.

The project is a collaboration by Union and Spotnitz and will be produced by Universal Media Studios.

I suppose after appearing in horrendous films like Meet Dave, she's asserting more control over her career.

I guess that means footballers wives is dead. I knew they couldn't match the English show but i was willing to give it a shot.

She was good on 7th Heaven as Mary's BFF. I didn't get a chance to see Night Stalker before it got cancelled but it looked pretty intriguing. In general, TV seems to be were its at. Shows like Madmen, The Closer and Burn Notice get pretty noteworthy acclaim so why wouldn't she want to reenter that realm. Plus, TV shows offer more job security (at least when they're well crafted). Smallville is on its 8th season.

Jaceel - never watched the Brit original of Footballers Wives, but heard a lot about it. Didn't look like something I'd really care for, so I passed.

Sol - yup, TV can mean job security. Especially for African American actors/actresses who don't get much face-time on the big screen. Fishburne is on his way there already - to CSI.

LOL! The original Brit Footballers Wives was almost like watching dramatised and "soccer" themed Jerry Springer. It was outlandish and hilarious at first, then it just got unbelievably boring in a "so he's shagging his mother's sister's boyfriend's grandad" kind of way.

    Sigh...

And Gabrielle who...? OK, OK, I'm kidding... but only just.
