'Notorious' Video Diaries

Stumbled upon the blog for Notorious, the Christopher Wallace aka Biggie Smalls aka Notorious B.I.G. biopic, produced right here in my backyard, Brooklyn, New York.

The blog was set up by Fox Searchlight, the studio producing and distributing the film, which is set for a January 2009 release.

It contains a few production updates, including video clips like the one below, capturing moments of interest. There isn't a lot there at the moment, but it's probably not a bad idea to keep an eye on the site over the next 7 months, leading up to the film's eventual release, as I'm guessing more updates and video clips will be posted in time.

The clip below shows the starring cast and crew introducing themselves to the camera. We see Angela Bassett who plays Voletta Wallace (Biggie's mom), along with the real Voletta Wallace, as well as Anthony Mackie as Tupac, and of course, Jamal Woolard as the titular Notorious one. ZZZzzz... I just have no interest in this movie and don't plan on seeing it. There are so many other lives I would rather see brought to life on film. I just don't think he deserves it. But I'm sure it'll break the box office bank.

A movie I could live without seeing too but, with Angela Basset in a leading role, I might just be tempted - assuming, of course, that it ever gets released over here...

Hey, it's hip-hop. Hip-hop is Black America's main export. So it may just make a theatrical release over here too.

Oh, and I love the rastafari security guard. The only one who doesn't seem particularly psyched to be working on the movie or who isn't pretending not to be particuarly psyched. So laid back he gave the movie a new name - not Notorious, not Notorious B.I.G., but Notorious Big. Yeah mon!

I second what albertine and uk black chick said. No interest from me. This is like what, the umpteenth biopic of a rapper in the last few years. Isn't there a Tupac film coming up?
