Meaning the kingdom enriched itself by selling our (I'm assuming) ancestors into slavery.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7186698165589554338.post-10188734554407086002009-02-17T14:50:00.000-05:002009-02-17T14:50:00.000-05:00When I first saw this story, I thought Marlon must...When I first saw this story, I thought Marlon must surely be demented! (and a huge dummy)

Choose one or the other; a Jackson museum (tired) or a slavery portal, but not both together, and certainly not a slavery portal with golf and massage....I can't even begin to express how ridiculous this sh*t is :-(Invisible Womanhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08299734445263175345noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7186698165589554338.post-16836944296570874852009-02-17T12:34:00.000-05:002009-02-17T12:34:00.000-05:00Good Lord have mercy! How did this even sound like a good idea in his over-jherry-curled head!?

Badagry is a beautiful beach (though the waves there are a bit scarey - even for strong swimmers) and has been used as a holiday/picnic spot by Nigerians for years (I used to go there at least once a year when I was at Unilag - usually after end of year exams) but really...

To be honest, as you pointed out, a memorial/museum to slavery is a really good idea. Whatever is in place (or at least as I remember it from several years back) isn't really up to scratch and has very little in the way of historical dissemination or preservation.

However, if they want to then help African-American tourists to drown their sorrows and be able to enjoy Nigeria as multi-faceted tourist destination, they may wish to consider somewhere like Calabar, which is a 1 hour flight away from Lagos and is already successfully building a name for itself as a holiday destination among Nigerians, and would at least give foreign tourists time to reflect on whatever they learn and experience in Badagry.

*sigh*

And Americans wonder why they're so often derided and/or disliked in other parts of the world...

Ajasco-5 museum indeed...!The Wendilicious Wonderhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06380114669771631713noreply@blogger.com
