I was convinced she never made it big ater Flashdance because of her appearance. I like Beal and I am glad she is enjoying success on the L Word.

I think audiences feel more comfortable categorizing someone by race but as the U.S. becomes more and more multicultural, this will change (as I expect homosexuals on screen to be more prevalent one day).

I'm glad people -- at least cinematically -- can see beyond race.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7186698165589554338.post-75380038738617466472008-02-14T00:10:00.000-05:002008-02-14T00:10:00.000-05:00Sorry about the errors in the above comment. Has anyone ever asked wondered if Denzel Washington, Don Cheadle, Sam Jackson, Will Smith, Morgan Freeman and others (including Black female actresses as well) have done us wrong like integration did? When you think about it all the above actors got to a certain level and moved out of the Black film genre (some were never in it). It's like when segregation in ended. Certain Black folks moved out and left the least among us in the city without no industry. It is the same for Black cinema. Why haven't we had any new filmmakers really burst on the scene in a dynamite way since the Spike, Townsend, Singelton era? Even Black actors? That only happens when there is a collaboration of them all together. Hmm?Jeremiah Jahihttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10869291860938300060noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7186698165589554338.post-58668146718903653982008-02-13T22:33:00.000-05:002008-02-13T22:33:00.000-05:00These hybrids also get a tax writeoff.
